On Saturday the 3rd of June, the Seminary held its annual Enquiry day. Things kicked off in the afternoon with 22 eager, young men striding through the front gates to come and see the seminary and get an idea of what life is like at Corpus Christi College.
For most it was their first time to get a taste of the life of a seminarian which at times can seem very mysterious to members of the public. Knowing that an army runs on its stomach, the seminary began the events with coffee, cakes, biscuits and a general chit-chat.
The formalities began after this, as the 22 enquires received talks from several seminarians on topics ranging from vocation stories, to what it's like to make the decision to apply and the daily schedule of seminarians. Following some question time, tours of the grounds were then held and the young men were shown the most important areas for Seminary life like the dining room and gym, oh and of course the Chapel too.
A clear theme of the day was that seminarians, as future priests, must be men of prayer and so in the evening Solemn Vespers was celebrated with His Grace, Archbishop Denis Hart.
No celebration of seminary life would be complete without a feast, and so the seminarians hosted a BBQ dinner where all had their fill and were satisfied. The dining room was alive with the sounds of laugher, banter and good cheer. Both enquirers and seminarians enjoyed the day alike and left renewed with a sense of hope that the Church is well and truly alive and that God continues to call good and faithful men to serve His people.
