World Youth Day… What a day it had been! 1.5 million young Catholics all gathered in one place.
Pope Francis recently told the youth not to lose the effect that World Youth Day had: “Don’t limit the gathering to your own photo albums, but rather talk to others about your experience and share your experience.”
It was with this idea that Corpus Christi decided to conduct a photography competition so that we could bring together our precious moments and awesome stories all the while exhibiting our camera skills. Photos had to be sent in within a span of a week. We could see photos go up on the wall as the week progressed, each with a little caption explaining the picture’s background, and each causing great appreciation and smiles.
Participation was amazing and it took some difficult judging between Cameron, Renjith, Tue and I to decide who would be the winners in each category as well as the overall winner. The overall winner was Jean-Sebastien’s picture, ‘The Pilgrim’, which captured the atmosphere of the pilgrimage. The lighting, the scenery, the people conversing youthfully all stood out in this image.
I pray that the youthfulness and joy of living out the Christian calling be always with the young people.
Amen.
