Once a year the seminarians are called upon to show their true colours. That is Corpus Chisti Triple C Night. No, we don’t come out and pray, and sing psalms that all may grow in holiness, though that’s not a bad idea...Instead we put on costumes, we dance, we sing, and generally try and make people laugh (emphasis on try). Last Friday night was a resounding success because, as far as I’m aware, no joke fell flat, no act went unapplauded. Plus, as a bonus, just over a hundred guests were given a social night out in which they got to see our humble abode, complete with cream pies in our esteemed MCs’ faces.

For us seminarians, it's a time to show our fun side, and a token of our thanks to the wider Church community for their support. I’m not sure what people were thinking when an unseen voice announced the beginning, and a dance of six people with bags over their bodies commenced, but whatever they were thinking would have passed by the time they witnessed a Samoan love song (no, seminarians do not court), and a seminarian CPR session. I’m sure the guests were delighted by the feasting that ensued. If they weren’t invested by this point, they were when they bought tickets for the prize raffle at the end of the night, which sold out very quickly!

One of our greatest pleasures at the seminary is the opportunity to mingle with others, which we received following the fortunes of the Great Schwamy! Following seminarian gangsters beating up the mafia, a Samoan dance, and a song of praise, the rector bestowed his words of wisdom. He reminded us that all priests, who have passed through Corpus Christ, have participated in this yearly phenomenon, himself included. And that’s ultimately the beauty of the event; it is a tradition that has been passed down through the ages of Corpus Christi, all the way from Werribee, which we ourselves are always enthused to offer. So if you didn’t come this year, come next!
