A formal farewell for former Vice-Rector, Fr Cameron Forbes, was held last Wednesday, April 21, after it had been postponed at the end of last year.
Corpus Christi College seminarians were last year scattered across Victoria and South Australia, as the country dealt with COVID-19 lockdowns and travel restrictions. This meant that only a small group of students were left at the seminary throughout most of 2020.
The Rector, Fr Denis Stanley, was therefore keen to farewell and thank Fr Cameron for his work at the seminary when the whole community was able to be present.
Fr Denis hosted a formal farewell dinner for Fr Cameron at last week’s Wednesday night community meal at the seminary. He also offered a short speech and gave a toast to Fr Cameron on behalf of all the staff and students.
Fr Cameron responded with words of gratitude, as he reminisced about his work at the seminary. He was a member of the seminary staff from 2016 and became Vice-Rector in 2018. He served at the seminary until the end of the 2020 academic year.
He has now taken up an appointment as the Parish Priest of Mentone.
Alongside his full-time parish commitments, Fr Cameron will continue to teach seminarians, religious and lay people at Catholic Theological College in East Melbourne.
