Corpus Christi College student, Fr Jessie Banez, has been ordained to the priesthood for the Catholic Archdiocese of Hobart.
Fr Jessie, 44, was ordained by Archbishop Julian Porteous on Friday, April 9, at St Mary’s Cathedral in Hobart.
He is the eighth priest ordained for the Archdiocese in the past six years.
Born and bred in the Philippines, Fr Jessie first came to Tasmania in 2015 and returned to Australia in 2016 to complete his studies for the priesthood.
Fr Jessie’s first Mass was at the Parish of Sandy Bay on Saturday, May 10.
